The Blameshifter has been a running joke at the QOTSA camp for decades. A what-if at rehearsals: “What if there was an effect that could shift the blame for a fuck-up to the other guy’s amp?”
That joke was developed into reality by Troy van Leeuwen, who conceived the ingenious labyrinth of possibilities that lives inside the Blameshifter. Dr. No Effects then brought it to life — circuits, routing, layout, and full cosmetic reality.
Of course, a custom set had to be made for the inventors of the concept, with the names filled in for each individual member. Every member has his own Blameshifter.
Troy has the Blameshifter with Dean, Mikey, Josh. Dean has the Blameshifter with Troy, Josh, Mikey. And so on and so forth.
Two sets of Blameshifter for the QOTSA have been made by Dr. No. One set is owned by the band. One set is available here — as a one-off for the real collectors.
But what about the 5th member… drummer Jon Theodore… how is he going to shift the blame?
No worries. Dr. No covered that too. One pair of Jon’s favorite drumsticks is included, with the severed fingers as tips to point and shift the blame. Fair game.
